CENTER UDINE ACCOMODATION - Udine is a beautiful city that friulana still a
perfectly preserved old town, a destination for many tourists from all over
Europe. Of course one of the main attractions is the cathedral built in 1236
on commission of the then Patriarch Bertoldo of Andechs-Meran. In 1335 he was
consecrated with the title of Santa Maria Maggiore. Do not miss a visit to the
Archbishop Palace, one of the most important of the city, the central part of
the palace was built during the sixteenth century. Since 1995 there is located
the beautiful Diocesan Museum and Galleries of Tiepolo in which you can find
beautiful collections of wooden sculptures that date back to the period between
the thirteenth and eighteenth centuries AD The center of Udine can welcome its
visitors in hotels, lodges and bed and breakfast in different categories.
The building also houses the Archbishop Library Delfino
established in 1709. Do not miss the Loggia del Lionello and faces in
Freedom Square, built in Venetian Gothic style dated 1448. Among the main works
will include the series of paintings of the Serenissima Republic of Venice and
the Madonna and Child by Giovanni Antonio de 'Sacchis of 1516. We recommend
also to visit the Lodge and the Temple of St. John erected both in 1533 and the
Clock Tower located always in Freedom Square, built by Giovanni da Udine in 1527
very much resembles the famous tower in Piazza San Marco in Venice. The top two
are in fact died flying hours, these sculptures was built later, precisely in
1850, very similar indeed to those of Venice.
