Hotels in Foggia

Foggia is a city of Apulia, Italy, capital of the province of Apulia. Foggia is the main city of a plain called Capitanata, also known as the "granary of Italy".

The Tavoliere’s main town, Foggia, looms out of the plain without warning, a fine starting point for exploring northern Puglia and the Gargano promontary though not an encouraging stop in itself. Although Foggia flourished under Frederick II, who declared it an imperial residence and built a palace here, the town was devastated in turn by the French in 1528m an earthquake in 1731 and Allied bombs durign World War II. Today the city’s streets are all reassuringly earthquake-proof, wide and low-built, a modern layout that is handsome enough, but you’re going to have to search hard in between the tree-lined boulevards for what is left of tghe old town
