Ravenna is a city in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. The city is inland, but is connected to the Adriatic Sea by a canal.

Ravenna is a city that has such historic monuments and the centre feels surprisingly modern – a combination of Mussolini's building programme and allied bombs that levelled much of the city in the last world war. It's a pleasant enough place to spend a couple of days and has some excellent bars and restaurants. Nightlife is sparse, though the lido towns a couple of kilometres away provide some excitement in summer.
